Eagle Pride winners show responsibility and discipline in school

On March 16th, before morning classes began, many VMSS students went to a ceremony to accept an Eagle Pride award for being great role models, hard-working students, respectful to students and teachers. Afterwards they celebrated by enjoying a doughnut and apple juice.

The whole ceremony started off by Mr. Mckeag presenting his speech and recognizing the staff members that helped with the Eagle Pride ceremony. Once he finished up his speech, Mrs. Buchwald and

Mr. McKeag read the names of the students who were about to receive the award. When each student name was announced, the student would proudly walk across the stage and take the award with one hand and shake the teacher’s hand with the other.

For 6th grade, Mr. Dudley and Mrs. Carruthers got the opportunity to hand the awards to the students, and Mr. Welter and Ms. Latham got to hand the awards to the 7th-grade Eagle Pride students.

The Trimester 2 Eagle Pride ceremony was a success this year. 7th grade student Marie Moran said, “It was a great honor, and I’m proud of myself to achieve this award.” I got some advice from 6th grader Keira Wesee who said you have to be responsible, be a leader, and make the right choices to receive the Eagle Pride award.

Even if students didn’t receive an Eagle Pride award, it does not necessarily mean that they don’t meet the requirements. It’s just that teachers can only give out a certain number of awards. There will be one more Eagle Pride ceremony before the end of the school year.
