The Last Jedi nears Star Wars perfection

On December 15th, 2017 the 9th Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, was released. Between the 15th and 17th, the movie made 220 million dollars! As a big Star Wars fan, I was excited to see the next movie added to the saga.

Overall I needed some time to take in the movie. There were a lot of things I liked about it, and a lot of things I didn’t like; overall, it was satisfying. I liked the action scenes; there were a lot of explosions, and the space battles felt reminiscent of the space battles in A New Hope.

One thing The Last Jedi does that The Force Awakens (Episode 7) doesn’t is add humor. The Force Awakens had just the right amount of humor to the point where it didn’t ruin the story. The Last Jedi had a lot of humor in it. It didn’t ruin the story with its humor, but personally I think there was a little too much.

One thing The Last Jedi did better than most of the other Star Wars movies is that there was a lot of good character development. For example, in The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren was an interesting character that we didn’t know much. But in The Last Jedi Kylo Ren became a much more detailed character, so you could really understand his character and background much more. Poe Dameron was also a character that went through some character development, although not as much as Kylo Ren.

The Last Jedi was visually stunning, but what I didn’t like is that they used a lot of CGI, which is good if done well. The blasters and lightsabers did look very real, but The Force Awakens had much more reality in the film, while The Last Jedi had a lot more CGI.

I’d give this movie a 8/10. There was a lot of things I liked, but there was just one tradition they missed. I won’t say what they missed because it would be a spoiler. Overall, I really liked this movie. The Last Jedi had a ton of good in it, such as the action, character development, and the characters overall. I think this movie might be the closest thing we will ever get to a perfect Star Wars movie.
