Teacher Feature: Mrs. Tuma

Sumaya Nur, Campus Editor

Communication is an essential skill that we all need now, in high school and beyond, at least it is according to Mrs. Tuma. Mrs. Tuma is a new 8th-grade Communications teacher at VMSS. In previous years, she taught 7th and 8th grade English at Aspen Academy, Pioneer Ridge Middle School, and at Eagle Ridge Middle School.

Tuma chose to teach because she wanted to help kids learn and read. She says that kids with the ability to read and learn can better advocate for themselves as they grow older. The reason Mrs. Tuma chose VMSS was because of our Communications class curriculum, something many schools don’t have.

Mrs. Tuma lives with her two daughters and husband in Prior Lake, Minnesota. In her spare time, she likes to watch volleyball games and read. She also likes to go camping and swimming. She is a Gopher volleyball fan in the fall and a University of Kansas basketball fan in the winter.
