How was your first month of school?

Many new 6th graders had a unique and different experience this September at VMSS. They had to adjust to new classes, meet new people, and get used to this bigger and new building all while finding a way to continue to succeed in school. We interviewed 6th graders to get a taste of their initial VMSS experiences.

How was you first month of school?
“It was better than elementary because you don’t have to sit in one class all day.”

Favorite subject?
“Science, because I like doing projects.”

Favorite teacher?
“Mr. Persons, I like how he is a chill teacher.”

 

 

Gabe Asleson

Is it a big change from elementary school?
“I would say so, you get to walk around a lot, there are also a lot more teachers and students.”

What was your favorite part?
“I got to meet a lot of new people and friends.”

 

 

Hailey Leam

How was your first month?
“It was good, kind of different. You have less lunch options and classes in elementary.”

Favorite teacher?
“Mrs. Edmonds because she is funny!”

 

 

Hayley Elliott

How was your first month?
“Exhausting, having to wake up so early, it’s different.”

What was your favorite part?
“The web groups on the first day.”

Favorite teacher?
“Ms. Sorenen, because she gives out candy.”

 

Hannah Yeshitila

Is it a big change from elementary school?
“Yes, because you have different periods and a different teacher for each class.”

What was the weirdest thing your web leader asked you to do?
“To act like a monkey.”

How was your first month?
“Not that bad, I know the basics right now because most of my cousins go here.”

What was your favorite part?
“That you get to walk around more.”

What is your favorite subject?
“MN studies because it has my favorite teacher, Mr. Persons.”
