Ocean of despair

I’m drowning in my thoughts,
In an ocean of despair,
But I wasn’t always like this,
I wasn’t always here.

I was walking along an ocean shore,
With my feet in the damp sand,
When a wave of sadness swept me off my feet,
And suddenly I couldn’t breathe,
Suddenly I couldn’t speak,
Suddenly I couldn’t move.

I was drowning in my thoughts,
In an ocean of despair,
But I wasn’t always like this.
Once upon a time,
I was there.

Up above the water,
I was in the light.
But everything turned that late summer night.
So now I’m sitting here,
Drowning in my fear.

The water slowly numbing me,
From head to toe,
My blood doesn’t flow,
It’s frozen over after sitting here everyday,
Year after year.
I’m stuck here.
Drowning in my thoughts,
In an ocean of despair.
