Boys soccer scores a successful season

It is officially school soccer season and everyone is very excited, especially the VMSS boy teams. The teams kicked off the season on the second day of school and have been practicing ever since. There are 3 boys teams and a total of 38 players that make up Valley Middle boys soccer.

The boys A team started off the season with a game against Dakota Hills. The score of that game was 2-5. Many weeks have passed since then and the team seems to have made a lot of improvements. Their last game they played Rosemount Middle. They won the game 5-2 with some great goals by Aldrich(2), Tony(2) and Modou(1). “The team showed a lot of discipline as they spread out on the field and and worked with one another” Mr. Vaillancourt stated.

Mr. Vaillancourt’s team consists of 13 players, one of them is Jose Herrera. Jose is the only 7th grader on the “A” team that was chosen to play up this year. However, according to Mr. Vaillancourt “there are a few other 7th graders that would do an amazing job that I would have liked to have on the “A” team”. Unfortunately, due to the lack of players they couldn’t move any other 7th graders up.

“I’m really going to miss it. I’m going to miss seeing all my friends and all the fun energetic players, hopefully I can come back next year to help out with some practices!”

— Noah Nogueras 8th grader at VMSS

Like Mr. Vaillancourt’s team, Mr. Adedeji’s team has made a lot of improvements throughout the season. There last game was on October 7th against Eagan. The score was 2 to 3.  The goals were scored by Mario and Aldrich. Charlie is one of the players or Mr. Adedeji’s team. According to Charlie, “I think we have definitely progressed since our first game, as we practiced more we became closer and began to learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I think overall we have gotten so much better as a team”.

All teams have done very well so far this season and will continue to improve. There are about 2 weeks left this school soccer season. For the 8th graders it is their last few games of Middle School Soccer. One of them being Noah Nogueras who shared how he felt about the season coming to an end “I’m really going to miss it. I’m going to miss seeing all my friends and all the fun energetic players, hopefully I can come back next year to help out with some practices!” With that in mind, the players will continue to work hard in their last few games and strive for a win.
