The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions 19-17 on a last second field goal by kicker Greg Joseph. Joseph, who missed a 37 yard game winning field goal against the Arizona Cardinals, connected on a 54 yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter to give the Vikings the lead. This kick put the Vikings at 2-3 on the season and 3rd in the NFC North. Alexander Mattison, the backup filling in for an injured Dalvin Cook, rushed for 113 yards and caught 7 passes. Mattison also had a fumble late in the fourth quarter which gave Deandre Swift, and the Lions, the chance to take the lead which they capitalized on.

On the final drive, Kirk Cousins found Adam Theilen twice and K.J. Osborn once to set up the previously mentioned game winning field goal.

The now 0-5 Lions have lost twice on game winning field goals (Greg Joseph and the Vikings, Justin Tucker and the Ravens) in what has been a tough season so far for the Lions. At 0-5, they still have to play the Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams, and Bengals. The Vikings play the Carolina Panthers next week followed by their bi week. Dalvin Cook expects to play next week along with Panthers star Christian McCaffery.

Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer, whom many think is on the hot seat want Zimmer gone after almost losing to the Lions. If Zimmer wants to keep his job, he will need to keep the Vikings rolling.
